How to Get Your AI Provider API Key
Inqyra is a bring-your-own-key (BYOK) chatbot — you connect your own AI provider account to power it. This guide walks you through creating an account and generating an API key for each of our five supported providers. All of them offer free credits or a free tier, so you can get started without entering a credit card.

OpenAI
Get your API key at platform.openai.com
Create your account
2 minGo to platform.openai.com/signup and sign up with your Google, Microsoft, or Apple account — or register with your email address. If you use email, click the verification link sent to your inbox. You will also need to verify your phone number via SMS before you can create API keys.
Generate an API key
1 minNavigate to platform.openai.com/api-keys (or click the gear icon in the sidebar, then API Keys). Click Create new secret key, give it a descriptive name (e.g. "Inqyra"), and click Create secret key.
Copy and save your key
Copy the key immediately — it is only shown once and cannot be retrieved later. Paste it into the Inqyra plugin settings under your agent's AI provider configuration. New accounts receive $5 in free API credits valid for 3 months. After that, add a payment method at Settings → Billing.
Anthropic (Claude)
Get your API key at console.anthropic.com
Create your account
2 minGo to console.anthropic.com and click Sign Up. Register with your Google account or create an account with your email address. To claim $5 in free API credits, verify your phone number via SMS during sign-up.
Generate an API key
1 minNavigate to Settings → API Keys in the left sidebar. Click Create Key, enter a descriptive name (e.g. "Inqyra"), and click Create Key.
Copy and save your key
Copy the key immediately — it is only displayed once. Paste it into the Inqyra plugin settings under your agent's AI provider configuration. When your free credits run out, visit Settings → Plans to add a payment method and purchase additional credits.
Google Gemini
Get your API key at aistudio.google.com
Sign in with your Google account
1 minGo to aistudio.google.com and sign in with your Google account. If you don't have one yet, create a free account at accounts.google.com first. On your first visit, accept the Google APIs Terms of Service when prompted.
Create an API key
1 minClick Get API key in the left sidebar (or navigate directly to aistudio.google.com/app/apikey). Click Create API key in new project. Google will generate your key instantly.
Copy and start using it
Copy the key and paste it into your Inqyra plugin settings. Google Gemini offers a permanent free tier with no credit card required — making it the most generous free option of all providers. The free tier includes access to all Gemini models with rate limits. To increase your limits, enable billing in the Google Cloud Console.
Mistral AI
Get your API key at console.mistral.ai
Create your account
2 minGo to console.mistral.ai and click Sign Up. Register with your Google or GitHub account, or sign up with your email address. After signing in, you will be asked to create a workspace for your organization.
Activate the free Experiment plan
1 minBefore creating an API key, you need to choose a plan. Select the Experiment plan for free access to all Mistral models. Verify your phone number via SMS to activate it. No credit card is needed. This is not a trial — it provides ongoing free access with rate limits (2 requests per minute, 500K tokens per minute).
Generate and copy your API key
1 minClick API Keys in the left sidebar. Click Create new key, optionally set a name and expiration date, and click Create key. Copy the key immediately — it will not be shown again. Paste it into your Inqyra plugin settings. To remove rate limits later, upgrade to the Scale plan at admin.mistral.ai.
DeepSeek
Get your API key at platform.deepseek.com
Create your account
2 minGo to platform.deepseek.com/sign_up and register with your Google or Apple account, or sign up with your email address. If using email, click Send code and enter the verification code sent to your inbox.
Generate an API key
1 minClick API Keys in the left sidebar (or go to platform.deepseek.com/api_keys). Click Create new API Key, optionally give it a name, and click Create.
Copy and save your key
Copy the key immediately — it is only shown once. Paste it into the Inqyra plugin settings. New accounts receive approximately 5 million free tokens valid for 30 days. DeepSeek offers some of the most affordable API pricing available. Top up your balance anytime at platform.deepseek.com/top_up.
Tips for Managing Your API Keys
Keep your key secret. Never share API keys publicly or commit them to version control. Inqyra encrypts your key at rest using AES-256-CBC encryption.
Set spending limits. Most providers let you configure budget alerts and spending caps to avoid unexpected charges.
Rotate regularly. If you suspect a key has been compromised, revoke it immediately in your provider's dashboard and create a new one in Inqyra.
